A Birthday Celebration in Honor of the U.S. Marines

The US Marine Corp Guard Havana pose with two of the evening’s guests

On Saturday, 13 November, 2010, the U.S. Marine Corps Detachment in Havana hosted a ball to celebrate the 235th birthday of the United States Marine Corps with a formal dinner and dance.

The ceremony included a message from the Commandant of the Marine Corps, the presentation of the colors and of course, a birthday cake.  Whether at home with a formal dinner or deployed in the dust and sand, Marines will celebrate the birthday of the Corps with the oldest Marine present sharing a piece of cake with the youngest Marine present.   After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a splendid dinner followed by dancing to rhythms of Cuban music.
