USINT Recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month
Every year, the United States of America recognizes the influences and achievements of Hispanic communities in the U.S. through Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from 15 September to 15 October. Cities and towns across America host parades, food festivals and other activities celebrating this important group of US citizens.
As part of its celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the U.S. Interests Section in Havana is hosting a contest entitled "My Cultural Heritage". The contest invites Cubans to submit essays or poems that describe their cultural heritage in 500 words or less. Simultaneously, USINT is also running a quiz, which challenges participants to answer a variety of questions on Hispanic heritage ranging from correctly identifying those states where Spanish is commonly spoken to naming well-known American statespeople of Hispanic descent.
