The US Interests Section (USINT) hosted a graduation ceremony to mark the completion by 26 students of a 12-week course in conversation English

On Tuesday, October 26, the US Interests Section (USINT) hosted a graduation ceremony to mark the completion by 26 students of a 12-week course in conversation English.  The course combines spoken and written language comprehension with actual conversation, challenging students to put their skills to the test.  Instruction was delivered via video recordings and course books, and was augmented by a short course on the rules of English grammar.

Eridania De Maria, from USINT's Press and Cultural Affairs Office and who proctored the course, commented on the students' achievements, saying, "English is a challenging language, with very different grammar rules and pronunciation to Spanish.  All the students who completed the course now "possess the basic foundation in conversation English, and can go on to perfect their language skills through practice and further courses.

Several of the students who completed the course felt comfortable enough with their newly-acquired skills to participate in English in a USINT essay contest, "My Cultural Heritage".

USINT offers educational courses in a number of other disciplines, including internet use, basic computer skills, communication, journalism and civil society organizations.
