Diplomats

Diplomats and their immediate family members may apply for nonimmigrant visas for unofficial travel without an appointment on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. only.  Applicants should drop off the application materials for preprocessing on any day prior to their Tuesday interview.  Those applicants who have already dropped off their application materials will receive an expedited interview when they arrive on Tuesday.  Applicants are also required to submit the most recent versions of forms.  The new electronic version of the DS-160 will allow applicants to fill out their forms on-line and print out the application confirmation page containing a barcode.

The Interests Section wishes to remind Diplomatic Missions that the opportunity to appear before a consular officer without a prior appointment is a courtesy extended only to accredited diplomats, Embassy Employees and their immediate family members.  Other nonimmigrant visa applicants must schedule their appointments through the Visa Information and Appointment Scheduling Service by calling 1-866-374-1769.

Please note that diplomats traveling to the United States on official business (for example, with A and G visas) may submit an application on any day during the Consular Section's normal business hours.  Diplomats traveling on official business are not required to appear before a consular officer.  The Interests Section, however, requests that Diplomatic Missions submit the most recent versions of forms DS-160 along with other supporting documentation.
