Cuban Art Auction for Cancer Kids Raises Over $20,000
Works offered at auction included paintings by notable Cuban artists as well as paintings by children with cancer.

On Tuesday, November 24, 2009, 19 aspiring journalists celebrated their completion of an introductory journalism course with a simple graduation ceremony held at the US Interests Section, Havana. USINT Marine Guard Awarded University Scholarship for Outstanding Essay
One of the Marines currently attached to the U.S. Interests Section, Sergeant Michael Kuy, has won a $1500 university scholarship under the VA Mortgage Center.com Military Education Scholarship Program. Sergeant Kuy won the scholarship following the submission of an essay describing how his military experiences have prepared him for his career.

Spirit of Thanksgiving comes to USINT, One Week Early
On November 19, 2009, the entire U.S. Interests Section sat down to a special Thanksgiving lunch prepared for all USINT staff by Americans serving at the mission. For many of those present this was the first time to share in the spirit, and fare, of this most esteemed of American traditions.
