USINT Chief of Mission Jonathan Farrar and Mrs. Terry Farrar hosted a dinner on Thursday, September 17 to mark the end of Ramadan and to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.  Joining them for the event were representatives from the numerous Muslim foreign missions in Havana as well as religious leaders from the Muslim, Christian and Hebrew faiths.

The dinner continues a tradition established by the White House in 1996 to mark the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the most important event in the Muslim calendar.  Eid-ul-Fitr celebrates the completion of 30 days and nights of devotion during which Muslims fast during daylight hours and remember those less fortunate through prayer. More than seven million Muslims currently live and work in the United States.

USINT Chief of Mission Jonathan Farrar joined U.S. President Barrack Obama and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in congratulating Muslims in the United States, Cuba, and around the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
