Information Resource Center (IRC)
Services and Products
IRC services are free and open for all, regardless of age, race, sex, religion, political affiliation, nationality, language or social status. These services are:
Reference and Information Searches: The IRC specialist responds to specific and limited queries and conducts searches in the IRC collection as well as from on-line databases and the Internet, offering “quick reference service” for specific data about the United States such as “contact information” (addresses of institutions, U.S. government agencies or NGOs), simple statistics, biographical information and provides suggestions on web sites and other sources to support the user’s query.
Outreach: The IRC proactively provides focused information services and products for specialized audiences. They include lists and full-text of articles and documents our audience has identified as being of interest.
Free Internet Access: There are several computer workstations where people can navigate and research specific topics with the assistance of the IRC technicians. Those interested in accessing this service must make an appointment by telephone first. (833-3551/52)
Washington Informa is an information package on a specific topic or theme based on information found on the State Department website (specifically the "Washington Files"). These packages are supplemented by the IRC staff with materials from other sources, often including local Cubans who submit their opinions on the various topics. (Click here to see the latest issues)
Distribution of books, pamphlets, handouts and packages of information on important events and various topics.
Loan of materials: Patrons can take home many of the books and magazines available at both the Lincoln Center and Eleanor Roosevelt Center
